The Lutheran Diaconia in Lithuania hosted the fifth transnational meeting of the SEMPRE partnership on 5-7 April in Klaipeda. The partners got together to discuss the experience made with empowerment tools for disadvantaged groups and to discuss the next steps in the project. The meeting also featured and excursion to the rehabilitation centre "Gabrielijus".
The 16 SEMPRE partners used the opportunity to meet for updating each other on the service development process which is currently under way in the partner regions. This process will lead to the creation of end-user driven micro projects in the partner regions during the second half of 2017. In several of the involved regions, these micro projects have already taken the first steps - please check the local blogs for updates and news.

Moreover, the partners went to visit the Rehabilitation Centre "Gabrielijus" which is located in a small village close to Klaipeda. Bishop Mindaugas Sabutis welcomed the partners to the rehabilitation centre, and its head Valdas Miliauskas explained how difficult it was for the Lutheran Diaconia to set up the centre and secure funding for it. A recent inhabitant of the rehabilitation centre who is now going to be employed as a social worker told the partners about the rules and daily routines of the centre. “Gabrielijus” plays an important role in the SEMPRE activities of the Lutheran Diaconia, and there are already plans for a micro project involving its inhabitants.
